Bot checker
Paste a user agent from your server logs to see whether Vireo Analytics would count it as a visit or keep it out as a bot, and which bot it is. The check runs in your browser, and nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
How Vireo decides
Vireo tries named bots first: AI crawlers, search engines, SEO tools, uptime monitors, link previews, headless browsers, scripts and archivers. Only when none of those match does it look for the words bots tend to put in a user agent, such as bot, crawler and spider. A request with no user agent at all counts as a bot.
This page runs the same patterns, in the same order, as the bot filter in Vireo Analytics 0.13.0. Inside WordPress, the same test is under Vireo Analytics, Settings, Tracking, Bot filter test.
What a user agent can't tell you
Vireo also leaves out traffic a user agent doesn't show: browsers driven by testing tools that claim to be Chrome, pages prefetched without anyone looking at them, and requests Cloudflare marks as a verified bot or a likely threat. So a user agent that passes here can still be filtered on your site.
Anyone can put any name in a user agent, too. A request calling itself Googlebot may not come from Google. Where an operator publishes its IP ranges, the bot's page in the directory links to them, and checking the address against them is how to confirm a visit is genuine.
More in the bot filtering docs, or browse the bot directory. To choose which AI crawlers may read your site, use the AI crawler robots.txt generator.
