Switch from Jetpack Stats

Jetpack keeps its stats on WordPress.com rather than in your database, so Vireo fetches them from the WordPress.com stats API for the date range you choose.

How it works
Fetches your history from the WordPress.com stats API
Where
Vireo Analytics, then Settings, then Import & export
Cost
Free. Importers are part of the free plugin.

What carries over

  • Daily pageviews per post and page
  • Daily totals, added up from those per-post views
  • Referrers

What doesn't

  • Unique visitors. The API only returns view counts per post, so for imported days Vireo fills visitors with the view count. The import screen warns about this.
  • Countries and devices. The API doesn't provide them, so Vireo starts recording them from the day you install it.

What you need

  • A WordPress.com API key (the import screen says where to find it)
  • The site address Jetpack tracks
  • A date range

Steps

  1. In WordPress, go to Vireo Analytics, then Settings, then the Import & export tab. Choose Jetpack Stats.
  2. Enter your WordPress.com API key, the site address Jetpack tracks and the date range to import.
  3. Start the import. It works backwards from the end date in 30-day batches, so recent months appear first.
  4. When it finishes, you can deactivate Jetpack Stats.

Before you start

  • Imports stop the day before Vireo's own data begins, and the import screen says which day that is, so days Vireo already counted aren't added twice. You can include those days anyway, with a warning that they'll be counted twice.
  • Jetpack doesn't need to be active on the site. A valid API key and the site address are enough.
  • Running the import over a range that overlaps one you already imported counts those days twice.
  • The API key is held temporarily while the import runs and expires on its own after six hours.

After the import

Imported days sit in the same tables as the traffic Vireo records itself, so your charts run straight through from the old tool to the new one. From there, Vireo also shows the Search Console searches that found each post, and what AI crawlers take from your site against the readers AI assistants send back. Bots are kept out of the numbers and listed by category so you can see what was filtered.
