What is dclid?

Google display and video ad click ID

Who adds it

Google's Campaign Manager 360 adds it to landing page URLs when enhanced attribution is on, for display and video ads bought across Google Marketing Platform.

What it means

The visit came from a display or video ad measured by Campaign Manager 360. The Google tag reads it like a gclid so conversions can be credited to the click.

What to do with it

It can appear alongside UTM tags on the same URL. Leave it in place if you run Campaign Manager 360 or Display & Video 360 campaigns.

How Vireo shows it

Vireo doesn't store click IDs, in the free plugin or in Pro.

In the free plugin, Vireo drops the query string from page addresses, keeping only a few WordPress ones such as p and page_id, so a tagged URL counts as the same page as the untagged one. The visit is counted under the referrer it arrived with.

See Referrers and sources in the docs.

Sources

When a user clicks on an ad, a DCLID value will automatically be appended to the end of the landing page URL.
