Vireo Pro
Freemius analytics: which content sells your plugin
For plugin and theme sellers on Freemius, Vireo Pro takes each sale and refund from a Freemius webhook and matches checkouts on your own site to the visit that brought the buyer.
- Plan
- Vireo Pro
- Set-up
- Product ID, secret key and a webhook in Freemius
- Events
- payment.created and payment.refund
- Where
- Vireo Analytics, Revenue
What it records
- Payments, from Freemius's payment.created webhook.
- Refunds, from payment.refund. A repeated notification is counted once, and refunds that add up to the whole payment mark it fully refunded.
- The source of each sale made through the Freemius checkout on your own site.

Set it up
- Go to Vireo Analytics, Settings. A "Freemius revenue tracking" card sits at the top of the screen.
- Enter your "Product ID" from the Freemius dashboard's product settings.
- Enter the "Webhook secret": your product's secret key. Then click "Save Freemius settings".
- Copy the "Webhook URL" from the card, and in Freemius add it as a webhook for the payment.created and payment.refund events.
The secret key also authenticates Freemius API calls, so treat it as a full credential. To keep it out of the database, define it in wp-config.php:
define( 'VIREO_FREEMIUS_SECRET', 'your-secret-key' );Free or Pro
Vireo Pro. See pricing.
Worth knowing
- Sales on Freemius-hosted checkout pages, renewals and recovered payments show as "(unattributed)". Only checkouts on your own site can be traced to a visit.
- As with every store, a sale is matched to a visit from the last 48 hours at most.
