Switch from WP Statistics
WP Statistics stores page views per day and one row per visitor per day. Vireo reads both, so pageviews and visitors carry over with the same meaning they had before.
- How it works
- Reads WP Statistics's tables in your WordPress database
- Where
- Vireo Analytics, then Settings, then Import & export
- Cost
- Free. Importers are part of the free plugin.
What carries over
- Daily pageviews and visitors
- Pageviews per page, matched to your posts
- Referrers from other sites
- Countries
What doesn't
- Devices and browsers.
- Anything else the old plugin recorded, such as goals, events or campaign reports, stays where it is. Vireo keeps daily totals, pages, referrers, countries and devices.
What you need
- WP Statistics' tables in the same database
Steps
- Install Vireo Analytics from WordPress.org on the same site. In WordPress, go to Vireo Analytics, then Settings, then the Import & export tab. Choose WP Statistics.
- Check how many records it found and start the import.
- When it finishes, deactivate WP Statistics whenever you're ready.
Before you start
- Both plugins count a visitor once per day, so visitor numbers carry over without being reinterpreted.
- Country figures come from WP Statistics' visitor records, so for imported days a country's pageviews equal its visitors.
- The old plugin's tables are only read. Nothing in them is changed or deleted.
- The old plugin can be active or deactivated, but its database tables have to still be there. Some plugins delete their data when uninstalled, so import before you remove it.
- Importing is additive. Running the same import twice counts that history twice, and there's no undo, so run it once.
- Imports stop the day before Vireo's own data begins, and the import screen says which day that is, so days Vireo already counted aren't added twice. You can include those days anyway, with a warning that they'll be counted twice.
After the import
Imported days sit in the same tables as the traffic Vireo records itself, so your charts run straight through from the old tool to the new one. From there, Vireo also shows the Search Console searches that found each post, and what AI crawlers take from your site against the readers AI assistants send back. Bots are kept out of the numbers and listed by category so you can see what was filtered.
WP Statistics is a trademark of its owner. This guide describes Vireo's importer as of October 2026. WP Statistics.
