Vireo can count two kinds of site outside WordPress itself: a headless front end that shows your WordPress posts, and other sites you run, such as a static site or a docs site.
A headless front end
If your posts live in WordPress but visitors read them on an Astro, Next.js or other front end:
- Go to Vireo Analytics, Settings, Tracking, Headless front end, and enter the front end’s address under “Front-end site address”.
- Save. Vireo shows a script tag under “Add to the front end”. Copy it from there and add it to every page of the front end.
The tag looks like this, with your own addresses filled in:
<script defer src="https://your-wordpress-site/wp-content/plugins/vireo-analytics/assets/js/tracker.js" data-endpoint="..."></script>
Always copy it from the settings screen, because the endpoint depends on your host.
Each pageview is matched to its WordPress post by path, so if the front end keeps your WordPress permalinks, per-post stats and Search Console keep working with nothing else to do. Otherwise, add <meta name="vireo:post-id" content="123"> to each page.
One front end per WordPress site, and views sent from any other address are refused. Bot counts and Core Web Vitals cover the WordPress site only.
Other sites
- Go to Vireo Analytics, Settings, Tracking, Connected sites. Enter a site name and address and click “Connect site”.
- Paste the tags Vireo shows before
</body>on every page of that site. The second tag collects Core Web Vitals and can be left out.
<script defer src=".../tracker.js" data-endpoint="..." data-site="your-site-key"></script>
Each connected site’s visits are stored separately, and a Site selector on the Overview switches between them. Views are only accepted from the address you registered.
Per-post reports, Search Console, the weekly email, the REST API and imports stay with your WordPress site.
Single-page apps
Astro view transitions are counted automatically. For any other front end that changes pages without reloading, add data-spa="history" to the tracker tag.
How many
The free plugin includes one headless front end and one connected site. Each WordPress site with Pro can connect sites up to the plan’s remaining allowance.
To remove a connected site, use “Remove this site” and type its name. Its data is deleted, and there’s no undo.
