FAQ

Answers to common questions about Vireo Analytics, from caching and multisite to uninstalling, translations and the REST API.

Does Vireo slow my site down?

The tracker is one 13 KB script, about 5 KB compressed, loaded in the footer, and it sends the view after the page has loaded. The view goes to a small endpoint that loads WordPress without your other plugins or your theme. If your host blocks that endpoint, Vireo falls back to the standard WordPress route and checks again every hour. Views reach the database once a minute in a batch.

Does it work with caching plugins and CDNs?

Yes. The decisions about bots and Do Not Track are made in the browser and at the endpoint, not in the cached page. Vireo excludes its script from JavaScript delay and minification in WP Rocket, Perfmatters, LiteSpeed Cache and FlyingPress. On Cloudflare, it also uses Cloudflare’s bot signals.

Does it work on multisite?

Yes. Network activation sets up every site, and new sites are set up when they’re created. Each site keeps its own data. Network admins get an Analytics screen in the network admin with each site’s totals.

Who can see the numbers?

Administrators always can. Under Settings, General, “Roles with access”, you can give any other role read-only access to the dashboard. Settings and imports still need an administrator.

What happens if I deactivate or delete the plugin?

Deactivating keeps all your data. Deleting the plugin removes its tables and data on every site in a network, including Pro’s and connected sites’ data. There’s no option to keep it, so export to CSV first if you want a copy.

Which languages is it in?

English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil) and Russian. Pro is translated into the same languages.

Is there an API?

Yes, a read-only REST API under /wp-json/vireo-analytics/v1 for totals, daily stats, top pages, referrers, countries, devices, events and per-post stats. It uses Application Passwords and needs a user who can see the dashboard. Pro adds WP-CLI commands (wp vireo ...) and an MCP server.

How do I know it’s still recording?

Vireo adds a check to Tools, Site Health that warns you if it stops recording visits.

Does it send a weekly email?

It can. Turn on “Weekly email digest” under Settings, Email digest, choose the day and time, and send yourself a test. It’s off by default.

Where do I get help?

Ask in the support forum on WordPress.org. Pro customers can email vireo@rebelcode.com.
